The basic conception regarding the ultrasound scan, according to most people, is that it helps the process of tracking a child’s development, in pregnancy. But, they are not aware of the fact that an ultrasound scan has numerous other things to offer.

Now, what exactly is an ultrasound? Well, it is a medical test that takes a picture of your internal body using a high-frequency sound wave. Sonography is another name for the ultrasound.

Did you know that it has a few unique facts to offer? Keep on reading and learn them.

Overview

Ultrasound scanning has been around for quite a while. Most people think an ultrasound scan is used in pregnancy either to assess the condition of a baby in the womb or to find out a child’s gender. While that is one of the most common uses for ultrasound scanning, it has a variety of applications. An ultrasound is a medical test that involves taking live images of various organs within our bodies using high-frequency sound waves.

It uses the same technology used by radar and sonar in the military to detect ships and aircraft. An ultrasound scan in Hyderabad allows your doctor to see whether your tissues, vessels, and organs have problems, without using any invasive procedures. The main benefit of an ultrasound is that it is capable of seeing some structures without using radiation. This is the reason it is the preferred technique to check a fetus in pregnancy.

Understanding Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a testing procedure where high-frequency sound waves (sonar and radio-frequency technologies) are used to produce images of the internal parts of the body. Sonography refers to medical tests performed using a device called Ultrasound. Apart from being safe, an Ultrasound is also painless and usually cost-effective procedure — making it popular among patients as well as medical professionals.

Ultrasound images are developed in real-time, allowing us to see both the structure of our internal organs, and also the function (i.e., the motion) of our blood vessels. While it has a variety of different uses in medicine and in healthcare, the most common and favored test used to track fetal development in pregnant women is probably ultrasound.

An individual usually does not need to undergo any special preparations in order to take the ultrasound. For smokers who are older than age 65, taking an abdominal Ultrasound test at any diagnostic center in Hyderabad can be a smart move, even when no other obvious symptoms of disease or discomfort are present.

When is the Ultrasound Test performed?

  • An ultrasound is usually recommended to diagnose, guide, and treat procedures like biopsies.
  • An Ultrasound is also used most often for evaluating the status of the organs of our abdomen, such as the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid, spleen, ovaries, and testes.
  • An Ultrasound also helps to diagnose the condition of our muscles, joints, tendons, blood vessels, and soft tissues.
  • An ultrasound is also recommended when it is a research step for treating conditions like Tennis elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and Frozen Shoulder.
  • Ultrasound tests may, additionally, help with diagnosis and the identification of tumours, cysts, and lumps that could have cancerous origins or a cancerous nature.

Some Unique Facts about Ultrasound

  • No Risks Involved

One of the best aspects of an ultrasound scan is that it does not carry any risks. Instead of using some kind of harmful radiation, such as X-rays or whatever, it uses high-frequency sound waves to obtain an internal picture of your body. Well, the body either absorbs these sound waves as heat, or they are bounced back at the transmitter. Maybe the body would see some increase of heat, but there would be no adverse effects.

  • Interesting History of Ultrasound

The first sonogram saw the light in the year 1794, the brainchild of the obstetrician, Iain Donald, together with an engineer, Tom Brown. But, the first clinical usage of a sonogram was made in the 1950s. Glasgow Hospital used it for the first time in the year of 1956. Since then, sonograms have gone through different developments, over time.

  • Ultrasound Serves Multiple Purposes

Earlier, the sonogram scan was used to find out whether or not the woman was pregnant. But since then, a number of specialists have started using it for different purposes, such as finding cysts, discovering heart problems, determining pregnancy possibilities, and diagnosing multiple gallbladder problems.

  • Guides Women to Take Valid Decisions

Pregnant mothers appreciated the capability of the ultrasound scan because it helped to detect the fetal health as well as reflected its movements. As stated by medical professionals, most women remain in uncertainty regarding their pregnancy till an ultrasound is performed. It makes sure the woman is healthy.

  • It Played a Crucial Role in reducing the rate of Abortion

Yes, the ultrasound helped in the process of reducing abortion rates. How?

Well, when the women looked at an ultrasound picture of the fetus, they saw the child was healthy and also moving. This influences their psychology, and they recoil from the decision to abort. So, ultrasounds, in that sense, have played a major role in the reduction in the abortion rate.

So, these are some unique facts you need to be aware of ultrasound scanning. And, in case, if you have to undergo an ultrasound, then you can come to Matrix for advanced radiology, imaging, and other world-class diagnostic services in Hyderabad at very affordable costs.

How to Choose the Best Diagnostic Center for Ultrasound?

So, why should you pick your diagnostic center carefully?

Why does Your Diagnostic Center Matter So Much?

An ultrasound scan helps your healthcare provider figure out what is going wrong with your body, and how it can be fixed. While the doctor might review images from the scan, it is the report from the scan that helps him or her to confirm a diagnosis and recommend the correct course of treatment.

This scan report, which explains what the scan images are showing, is done by the radiologist — a trained medical professional who is integral to the Diagnostic Center’s team. So, an ultrasound is a procedure that depends on an operator.

A professional radiologist, who has sufficient experience, is the single most important element in accurately interpreting images, hence, the diagnosis.

Even better is a specialist radiologist, focusing on specific parts of the body, thereby having greater experience and expertise, and thus providing more precise diagnoses. For instance, for joint- or muscle-related ultrasound, a MSK radiologist would be your best choice.

So, before deciding on a diagnostic center for reliable imaging services in Hyderabad, be sure you are familiar with the qualifications and specialties of the radiologist.

Not Only the Radiologists, but the Ultrasound Technology also Matters

Not every center has the latest ultrasound machines, which are equipped with updated technology. And why does this matter?

Because low-quality scanners produce scan images that are blurred or with poor resolution, it might not give a clear image to a radiologist or physician about your internal organs, therefore increasing the chances that you will not get a prompt diagnosis.

It is like the difference between watching a movie in high definition, and watching the version with a very low-resolution, pixelated picture. Choosing a well-known ultrasound scanning centre in Hyderabad that has the latest scanners helps radiologists and your doctor to catch tiny details you might have missed otherwise.

The high demand for chest x-rays and HRCT has led to an exponential rise in prices and demand for these tests. Medical diagnostic networks and imaging labs are also seeing a strong influx of people who want to get tested, which in a sense also helps to determine the severity of the disease.

Multiple healthcare institutes often prefer using swab test methods to identify an infection. Though, as per the American Journal of Roentgenology, it was concluded that the CT/HRCT Scan diagnosis of COVID-19 is fairly accurate with 4% error rate.

What Exactly is CT/HRCT Scan?

Computed Tomography also known as High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) refers to a CT scan that provides a more accurate cross-sectional image of the lungs than conventional chest CT and chest x-rays.

HRCT Chest scan uses special technologies to improve image resolution with fine lung details ideal for evaluation. An HRCT scan covers the entire lung tissue, which helps doctors find the cause of any abnormalities.

The method can be used for the diagnosis of acute and chronic diseases of lung tissue and respiratory tract. HRCT may be more sensitive and accurate in diagnosing diffuse lung disease. Because HRCT can detect even small nodules in the lungs, it can detect major abnormalities early and help develop appropriate treatment plans.

Why CT or HRCT Chest Scan is Done?

HRCT chest scans are considered as the method of choice for detecting unexplained lung abnormalities and chest complications. The following are some of the most common uses of the scan:

  • To assess the lung functioning & the risk of development of any diffuse lung disease.
  • To deter the airflow obstructions in the lungs
  • To find out any abnormal growth of tumors inside the lungs.
  • For biopsy, to select the optimal route if needed
  • To figure out multiple lungs’ infections like bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, etc.
  • To analyze abnormalities found in chest CT scan and chest X-ray
  • To examine the progression & severity of an infection

How to prepare for a chest CT/HRCT Scan?

The HRCT scan is a painless, non-invasive imaging technique that does not require special preparation before the procedure. During the procedure, the patient is not injected with a contrast agent. You can stick to your regular diet and continue your regular activities.

However, in some cases, patients may be required to fast for several hours before the procedure. It is also recommended to have all medical records and prescriptions with you at the time of the scan. Radiologists can use these recordings to confirm their findings and make an accurate diagnosis.

Before entering the scanning room, the patient is put on a large, comfortable cotton gown. Before starting the procedure, you must remove all jewelry and metal objects.

Book your CT/HRCT Chest Scan in Hyderabad at a very affordable price.

HRCT Chest Scan Procedure

Qualified technicians carry out the test. During the scan, the patient lies down on an examination table, which then slides into a large round donut-shaped CT machine. The position of the patient is usually recumbent (lying on the back) with both hands above the head. The patient is asked to remain still and hold their breath. HRCT chest scans take less than 5 minutes after the patient enters the scanner.

After the Scan

  • Once the scan is completed, patients can drink or eat as usual.
  • Hard copies of chest scan can be available in the next 2 hours of the scan and you can get the written report within 24-48 hours.

Note— As this scan uses ionizing radiation, pregnant women must inform their doctor before the scan.

How is Chest HRCT useful in Assessing Covid-19 infection?

The demand for chest scans has grown exponentially at a time when the number of Covid-19 cases across the country is growing rapidly.

People with negative RT-PCR also suffer from severe symptoms of Covid-19. In this case, people are advised to have an HRCT chest scan. This scan is another way to determine the extent of viral infection in the lungs.

People have HRCT chest scans as soon as they see initial symptoms, but HRCT reports show ground-glass opacities in the lungs, usually visible within a week of infection.

The 3-fold uses of an HRCT chest scan in COVID management are stated below:

  • HRCT chest demonstrates the disease progress at various stages-early, progressive, peak stage, & absorption stage. The test helps to better understand the disease progress, diagnosis and treatment.
  • It could be positive even when the RT-PCR test gives it negative which strengthens the significant role of HRCT in the diagnosis of COVID-19 infection.
  • HRCT chest scan images of a patient reveal that over 90% of the lung lesions disappear or just a slight patch remains, illustrating that COVID-19 infection is not only preventable & controllable but also curable if appropriate treatment is provided on time.

Medical tests & full-body health check-up packages in Hyderabad are available at Matrix Diagnostics.

Duration of the Scan

The duration of a CT scan depends on the area of the body to be scanned and what the radiologist is trying to diagnose. On average, the scan should take about 30 minutes if counterstaining is not required.

The patient will receive some radiation during the CT scan, but the amount will be minimal.

The chance that CT radiation will cause cancer is very, very small, and the risk of CT radiation is worth the risk because it allows physicians and radiologists to diagnose and treat a patient’s life-threatening illness that “otherwise would not have otherwise got detected.

The glycosylated hemoglobin HbA1c test is a reliable method for determining glucose levels in a person within the previous 3 months. This testing is the gold standard to predict the likelihood of developing diabetes in the future. So what is the HbA1c test and why is it considered important? What is the HbA1c test?

Let’s delve deep

What is the HbA1c Test? Why Is It Important?

Diabetes is a disease caused by very high blood sugar or blood sugar levels. Over time, these glucose levels can lead to serious health problems.

There is no cure for diabetes; once the disease progresses, it is necessary to manage the condition to avoid serious complications. Therefore, it must be prevented or diagnosed before it is too late. Get tested to rule out the possibility of developing the disease in the future.

HbA1c stands for glycated hemoglobin, which is hemoglobin bound to glucose. It is also called the glycated hemoglobin test.

So how is HbA1c different from a blood sugar test?

HbA1c gives the average glucose value over a period of 3 months or more, while a blood glucose test only shows changes that occur on a daily basis. Thus, HbA1c tests provide a more complete picture of blood sugar levels over a longer period of time. Blood sugar levels continue to fluctuate, so tests that only show recent blood sugar levels may not be effective enough to predict the possibility of diabetes. The HbA1c test shows the average blood sugar level over a 3-month period; this provides a clearer and more accurate image. Learn more about the causes of fluctuations in blood sugar.

The HbA1c test is considered one of the most important tests for diagnosing diabetes. Now that you know the importance of the HbA1c test, let’s take a look at the right time to get it.

When should you get an HbA1c test?

Recognizing the symptoms of diabetes is difficult, at least in the early stages. Because many of the symptoms of diabetes can be dismissed as a temporary health problem that will go away over time.

Check out for the following symptoms:

  • Extreme hunger
  • Excess thirst
  • Constant, unceasing tiredness
  • Excess urination
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Tingling and numbness in hands/feet
  • Blurry vision

There are people who are more likely to develop diabetes. People who can fall under the following categories are:

Who are obese or over weight

Family history of diabetes

Leads a sedentary lifestyle

Has heart disease or high blood pressure.

But to get accurate results, you need to be tested at a reputable diagnostic center. Find the best diagnostic center and get your HbA1c test as soon as possible and for other diagnostic services in Hyderabad

So how does the HbA1c test actually work?

Hemoglobin is the protein that carries oxygen in red blood cells. Hemoglobin binds to glucose in the blood; this is called glycation. Therefore, the higher the level of glucose in a person’s blood, the more glycated blood cells he has. The HbA1c test measures the amount of glucose that has attached to red blood cells in your body over the past two to three months. Red blood cells are stored for 3 months, so the test can measure sugar levels 3 months before the test.

Levels are measured as a percentage. Have you ever wondered what a normal HbA1c level is? For people without diabetes, it ranges from 4% to 5.9%. And for people with diabetes, it will be higher.

The HbA1c test results are presented as a percentage. The test result depicts s the amount of hemoglobin that glucose has bound to in the blood:

Normal or healthy —below 5.7%

Pre-diabetes—5.7-6.4%

Diabetes—6.5% or more.

Procedure

HbA1c is a simple test that measures the percentage of your average blood sugar level for the 3 months preceding the test.

Although the results of venous sampling are considered more accurate and time consuming, finger prick results are considered relatively less accurate. This is a simple test that doesn’t even require you to fast before the test. The test is usually done in a doctor’s office or laboratory. This is not a complicated procedure and does not even require fasting, as is the case with other tests.

Diabetes is an incurable condition, and the only way to reduce the likelihood of serious complications from it is with lifelong treatment. It is a disorder that can cause serious health problems if left unchecked.

Therefore, it is necessary to conduct tests to predict the development of the disease in the future or to find it out in the early stages. HbA1c tests are considered among the best as they give an idea of blood sugar levels from previous months. A simple test can help you prevent or control diabetes before it causes serious damage to your health. According to the Global Burden of Disease, around 24.8% of all deaths in India is mainly due to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Moreover, CVDs have now become one of the leading causes of mortality rate in India. If anyone had a heart attack or any other heart-related issue, they almost certainly had their heart evaluated with an electrocardiogram, in short ECG.

Our heart produces small electrical impulses with each beat, which cause the heart muscles to contract & pump the blood throughout the body. The electrocardiogram records the heart’s electrical activity using electrodes placed on the skin. ECG allows medical professionals to detect abnormal heart rates and heart muscle damage.

ECG/Electrocardiogram is a test conducted to identify the well-being of your heart. Matrix Diagnostics center in Hyderabad is known for providing the best ECG Testing services in the city at very affordable prices.

Matrix is a complete diagnostic center with all types of radiological imaging & pathology testing and other services available at its premises.

What is an ECG Test?

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test that records the electrical activity of your heart. It is one of the most commonly used medical tests in the world and can be found in doctors’ offices, operating rooms, and ambulances.

The ECG test result gives healthcare professionals a snapshot of your heart activity and helps them assess the condition of your heart and identify possible risks or abnormalities.

Benefits of ECG

ECG technology is widely available and highly informative, providing healthcare professionals with data that may be associated with a variety of heart conditions.

The procedure itself is safe, inexpensive and non-invasive. A physician can use an ECG to look at the:

  • Heart rate
  • Heart rhythm
  • Heart axis
  • Rhythm disturbances

Why is an EKG Test done?

In most of the cases, electrocardiogram is performed when a person has noticeable heart-related symptoms which may indicate a heart abnormality like:

  • Having a rapid pulse
  • Dizziness or Lightheadedness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart Palpitations

A doctor may recommend this test to check for arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, previous heart attacks, or the status of certain heart diseases. If there is a family history of heart problems, an ECG may also be recommended regardless of the symptoms found.

Matrix is a reliable diagnostic and healthcare center where we offer affordable ECG Testing in Hyderabad along with health checkup packages, pathology tests and most importantly covid testing center in Hyderabad .

ECGs usually record heart rate and heart rate. These two factors provide the most important test data that a doctor will use to interpret heart disease.

Types of ECG Testing

If you have any signs or symptoms related to heart problems, your consultant doctor may recommend you to take an ECG test. The various types of ECG tests that can be conducted include:

Standard ECG

In a standard ECG test, small electrodes are applied to the skin of a person’s chest, legs and arms to record readings of the heart’s electrical activity. This is a painless, non-invasive test to determine heart rate at any time.

Holter Monitor

It is a small wearable device that continuously reads ECG recordings. The device is used to take readings within 24-48 hours. This test is performed after performing a routine ECG test to monitor your heart rate.

Implantable Loop Recorder

This is a type of heart monitoring device that provides continuous heart rate recordings for up to three years. It allows you to record the electrical signals of your heart through remote monitoring with a small device inserted directly under your breast skin.

Event Monitor

This handheld device is similar to a Holter monitor that records your heart rate only at specific points in time for a few minutes. It can be worn longer than a Holter monitor. Whenever symptoms related to heart problems are observed, a single press of a button records and stores the electrical activity of the heart for several minutes, which the doctor can later examine.

Signal-averaged Electrocardiogram

This test detects any possible risk of contracting a condition known as cardiac arrhythmia, leading to cardiac arrest. Although the test is similar to a standard ECG, it uses more advanced technology to analyze these risks.

How does an ECG work?

The upper right chamber of the heart contains a group of specialized cells that initiate the heartbeat. When they generate a normal heartbeat, these cells create an electrical impulse that causes the surrounding cells to do the same in all the other chambers of the heart.

When a wave of electrical stimulation travels to different parts of the heart, which is usually highly coordinated, the chambers contract and the heart pumps blood. This electrical activity is recorded by an ECG machine, where it appears as a series of waves on a graph.

When should you get an ECG?

Doctors usually recommend an EKG when symptoms appear that may be related to a heart problem. Possible symptoms may include: Heart palpitations

  • Chest pain
  • Breathlessness or difficulty in breathing
  • High pulse rate
  • Lightheadedness/confusion, and dizziness
  • Weakness, fatigue, and decline in the ability to exercise
  • Seizures

If you experience any of the above symptoms and need urgent medical attention, please seek medical help. These symptoms may or may not be related to cardiovascular problems, but getting an ECG is one of the easiest ways to determine if this is actually the case.

When to See Medical advice?

If you experience chest pain, dizziness, or any of the above symptoms, see your doctor as soon as possible. If you have a medical emergency, approach any hospital. If you experience any of the above symptoms, you should see your doctor as soon as possible to start diagnosing the problem.

If you have a family history of heart disease, or perhaps you have had a heart attack in the past, it is important to see your doctor as soon as you start noticing any of the above symptoms.

A series of tests may be required to determine the specifics of your condition, including in some cases an electroencephalogram (EEG). For people who have recently had a seizure, it may be helpful to have an ECG along with an EEG.

Matrix is the number one chain of diagnostic centers renowned for its professional outlook, accurate reporting and diagnostic services in Hyderabad.

This is because the symptoms of brain and heart disease can be similar, and because the conditions of the brain and heart can overlap, and it is often important to rule out one or the other before deciding how to diagnose and treat.

How to Prepare for an ECG Test?

The ECG examination is non-invasive and painless. You are usually asked to lie down during the test. During this time, you may be asked to stay still, breathe normally, and try to relax. At the end of the test, the electrodes will be removed, and the results will be reviewed by the doctor and explained at the follow-up appointment.

Before starting a test, there are several things you should do to prepare yourself to ensure that it is tested effectively and comfortably. The following tips can be considered a checklist for an ECG test in a diagnostic center or hospital or clinic.

  • Avoid topical products and oily skin creams
  • Breathe normally
  • Keep your clothing simple & avoid hosiery or full-length bodysuits.

Usually, ECG tests are performed in a clinical setting, separate from EEG and other types of tests. The symptoms described by people requesting an EKG are often irregular and require a diagnostic test that allows for a longer examination.

Human resources are the strength of any organization, large or small. The success of any business depends on the productivity and competence of its employees. It is very important that employees are happy and healthy for the organization to thrive.

This has prompted multinationals to initiate corporate health packages for the well-being of their populations. Medical treatment plans and annual employee health check-ups are now part of most small, medium and large enterprises. The employee health package plays a key role in maintaining a healthy and positive workplace. They help create stable relationships between employees and employers.

Matrix Diagnostics center in Hyderabad offers the best diagnostic services including, pathology, radiology, cardiology, imaging and predominantly full-body health checkup packages in Hyderabad at affordable prices.

Annual employee health check-ups are also gaining in importance these days with an alarming rise in the number of chronic illnesses among company employees such as diabetes, hypertension, etc. Corporate health packages benefit both employer and employee alike.

On the one hand, they increase job satisfaction, reduce stress levels and boost employee morale. On the other hand, they help employers build better employee relationships, increase retention rates, and improve productivity.

Employee health examinations also help identify hidden health problems that could negatively affect the positive vibe of the workplace.

What are the Benefits of health checkups for Employees?

  • Reduces Mental Pressure

Nowadays, there are very frequent reports of increasing pressure on the mental health of company employees. This can be due to a variety of reasons, such as overwork, family problems, poor work-life balance, decreased job satisfaction, etc.

Employers can identify recurring mental health problems in their employees through annual employee health examinations and an associated health package. Therefore, they can take preventive measures in a timely manner to eliminate them. Thus, the medical examination of the employees reduces the psychological stress on the workers, and they can work in a relaxed environment.

Minimizes Health Risks

The increased health risk associated with high blood sugar, high cholesterol and hypertension is a major concern for employees, especially those who work primarily in the office.

Corporate health care packages focus on recognizing these threats and offering healthy lifestyles. This reduces the high health risks of employees. It also prevents the occurrence of life-threatening diseases such as heart attack and cancer. Thus, a good healthcare package helps the employee to lead a clean lifestyle.

Early Detection of Chronic Diseases

Chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, etc. Many of them could not recognize the first symptoms of such diseases due to the lack of regular medical examinations. Consequently, their threat level increases to the point that they begin to interfere with daily activities such as job responsibilities.

An annual physical examination of employees helps in the early detection of chronic diseases. Workers also receive advice on how to take care of their health in order to avoid the increased risk of these diseases through the company’s health packages.

Personal healthcare expenses can be reduced

Generally, medical examinations and treatment of employees are covered by the company’s health management plans. Depending on the policy of the company, they need to contribute a small amount of money for drugs, medical tests, etc. Thus, the costs of maintaining personal health are reduced thanks to the corporate package of healthcare or diagnostic services in Hyderabad

Corporate medical packages ensure that employees receive regular medical check-ups. In a sense, the health of the employee becomes a corporate responsibility.

Increase in workplace morale

It gives the person a sense of belonging and a sense of security. An annual medical examination of employees shows that the organization is concerned about the welfare of its employees. Consequently, their morale is automatically increased.

The employee is regularly checked as part of the company’s health care packages. Make a nutritional plan and get tips on how to live a healthy life.

Any possibility of future illnesses is identified at an early stage during the employee’s medical examination and is treated in advance. Thus, the incidence of illness is significantly reduced and they take less sick leave or unscheduled leave.

Increase in Productivity

Corporate healthcare packages help identify diseases that may infect an employee in the future. Therefore, you can take preventive measures in advance to prevent the disease or at least reduce its side effects. The worker also learns which habits are negatively affecting his health through regular medical examinations.

They are also beginning to lead healthier lifestyles. This, in turn, increases the productivity of people and therefore also increases the overall productivity of the organization’s human resources. A good corporate healthcare package includes many benefits such as zero insurance premiums, free gym memberships, and monthly visits to all types of clinics.

They are considered an added benefit to employees and therefore make them feel important. Corporate medical packages affect the loyalty of company employees. They help increase retention rates because employees are healthier and happier.

Health packs are a way to show that an organization cares about its employees. Even though they have so many professionals, not all companies are able to develop effective corporate health care packages for employees.

Looking for immediate results instead of long term solutions. Opt for a more sophisticated healthcare package. Make fitness more important and ignore mental health issues. Develop corporate healthcare packages in-house (in most cases by an HR team) instead of consulting with a health management company.

Lack of support from senior management. Lack of communication with employees. Taking the above factors into account, in the current scenario, different organizations have offered different corporate healthcare packages. These can be categorized into pre-employment medical examinations, continuous medical examinations and supervision of employees, health risk assessments and vaccination/ immunization programs.

Corporate wellness packages are only useful if properly planned. A well-executed disease management plan has a positive effect on both the economic growth of the organization and the well-being of its employees. The tests included in the company’s health check packages will provide a reasonable view of the employee’s health and thus guide him or her towards adequate treatment if a disorder is identified.

In a competitive corporate world, employees have strict work schedules, must adhere to time constraints, eat trash and fast food regularly, keep sitting in their workplaces for extended periods of time, rest less and stay under pressure from work stress. This will undoubtedly have a negative impact on health. This undesirable lifestyle can lead to various diseases. Business organizations today place great emphasis on the well-being of their employees.

Corporate health testing is a must in any organization, large or small. Tests carried out by diagnostic center in Hyderabad, cutting edge high-end technology with free samples at home collection and online reports. We help organizations save on medical costs. Since these tests only take place once a year, cost should never be an issue for your well-being.

If you are confident that you have no health problems, you can opt for the intermediate package. It is also recommended to compare health care packages, choosing the one that adequately suits your needs. Routine physical examinations can help identify true diseases before they progress to advanced stages. Plus, you can make appropriate but beneficial lifestyle changes to live longer and better lives.

Understanding Thyroid Diagnostic Testing

Do you know about 60% of people with thyroid disorders are unaware of their condition!

Excessive fatigue, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, depression, these are some of the telltale symptoms of poorly-functioning thyroid gland. And these are not all the possible symptoms of a malfunctioning thyroid gland. In fact, when there is something wrong with your thyroid gland, there can be many possible symptoms due to the vital role it plays in your body.

Undiagnosed thyroid conditions may put patients at risk for other serious health complications such as heart disease, osteoporosis, infertility, weight gain or loss. Additional common thyroid-associated issues include poor fat digestion, fatigue, constipation, gallstones, diarrhea, and joint pain.

Your body has multiple glands to perform varied bodily functions. The thyroid is one of the vital glands that is located at the front of the neck where it secretes two types of hormones-triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Thyroid gland helps your body maintain its metabolic rate & perform numerous other functions, including getting energy from food, growing & going through sexual development.

So how to check thyroid health?

Answer: consider the thyroid profile test at a diagnostic center in Hyderabad, which helps in diagnosing the thyroid health this thyroid blood test at home. Matrix thyroid profile test in Hyderabad is not only very convenient (sample home collection), but it can also measure 4 key markers related to thyroid function, not just one (like some thyroid tests do).

Of course, the question is, “Which markers does the thyroid test measure?” The thyroid test is designed to measure the following four markers found in the blood: free T3, free T4, TSH, and TPOab.

If this series of acronyms left a huge question mark in your head, don’t worry – here’s a breakdown of what these different indicators are (and why you should track them). Let’s check out:

Thyroid tests

A thyroid blood test (also called a thyroid test) is a simple laboratory test to check whether the thyroid gland is functioning normally. In people who have been diagnosed with thyroid problems, the test is used to monitor and manage treatment.

Types of Thyroid blood tests

T4 Test

This can be done in one or both of the following ways: Total T4, which measures the total amount of thyroxine in the blood. This includes the amount of T4 attached to blood proteins that help the hormone move through the bloodstream; and free T4, which measures only the amount of free thyroxine not bound to blood proteins.

T3 Test

This test is used to measure the levels of another major thyroid hormone. Also in this case, it can be of two types: common T3 and free T3.

TSH Test

A TSH-Thyroid Stimulating Hormone test is one of the most significant tools, in a way to tell how well your thyroid gland is working.

If you have any thyroid gland issues, then it prevents the gland from producing enough thyroid hormone, another gland called the pituitary will release more TSH into the blood. If the thyroid produces too much thyroid hormone, the TSH released by the pituitary gland will decrease, which means that the TSH in the blood will decrease. This means that the body’s immune system will attack the thyroid.

Matrix offers comprehensive diagnostic services in Hyderabad along with thyroid profile testing, full-body health checkup packages in Hyderabad at very affordable prices.

Thyroid Antibodies Test

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition where the body’s own immune system attacks the thyroid gland.

A test that checks for high antibody levels can help detect this condition. Antibodies are a sign that the immune system is not working properly and is attacking the thyroid gland. Two types of thyroid antibodies are commonly measured: antibodies to thyroglobulin (TgAb) and antibodies to thyroid peroxidase (TPO).

Signs & Diagnosis

  • High TSH levels most often means there are low thyroid hormone levels in the blood condition is called underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism

This means that your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones. As a result, the pituitary gland must produce and release additional TSH into the blood to stimulate the thyroid gland.

  • Low levels of TSH generally means you have high thyroid hormone levels in your blood which is called hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid. This means that your thyroid gland is producing an excess of hormones, so the pituitary gland has decreased or stopped producing and secreting TSH into the blood.
  • Low T4 levels may mean you have hypothyroidism. High T4 levels might imply you have hyperthyroidism.
  • If your T4 levels are normal to low, TSH levels are elevated, and T3 levels are normal, this may indicate early hypothyroidism.

In some cases, high or low T4 levels may not mean you have a thyroid problem, as factors such as pregnancy, certain medications (oral contraceptives, corticosteroids, etc.), serious illness, and others may affect levels. Health problems.

Essentially, these conditions and drugs alter the amount of proteins in the blood that “bind” or bind to T4. Note that your doctor is the best guide for interpreting the results of your thyroid tests and suggesting a diagnosis.

What is Hypothyroidism?

If your thyroid is not active enough, it will produce too little thyroid hormone, which can lead to hypothyroidism. Your body’s metabolic rate drops and energy consumption is slower. Symptoms include fatigue, feeling cold, constipation, dry skin, few or no menstrual periods in women, and slow growth in children.

What is Hyperthyroidism?

If your thyroid is overactive, it releases too much thyroid hormone, which can lead to hyperthyroidism. Your body’s basal metabolic rate is increasing, and your energy consumption is faster than it should be.    Symptoms include sweating, tremors, weight loss, diarrhea, irregular bleeding, or (possibly increased bleeding) in women, and heart palpitations.

Why would you need a thyroid test?

It is not uncommon to have thyroid issues and still be unaware of it. It may take some time for symptoms to become noticeable.

Regular examination of the thyroid gland helps to make a diagnosis in time and seek medical attention early. If your family has thyroid disease, it is more important to get proper diagnosis or complete thyroid profile test in Hyderabad. The greater the number of family members suffering from thyroid disease, the greater the likelihood of a person suffering from thyroid disease.

In addition, women of any age are more likely to have low thyroid hormone levels than men. If you are older, it is recommended that you see your doctor to see if your medical history shows you can benefit from thyroid testing.

If you have any symptoms of low or high thyroid levels, talk to your doctor and get tested as recommended. Don’t ignore any health symptoms. Proper treatment can help you fully control thyroid-related symptoms.

CT (Computer Tomography) Scan is one of the most important medical breakthroughs of the past 50 years, CT scans have become so vital that they have been used for diagnosing a variety of medical conditions.

For prevention, diagnosis, & treatment there are multiple medical technologies like ultrasound and computed tomography which allow the healthcare provider to know the health status of the patients. In fact, in 1979, CT scan inventors were awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine.

If you have been referred to any imaging or diagnostic center in Hyderabad, you may be nervous or even confused. What is CT scan & why is it important? When CT scans are indicated? What are its benefits, risks, and how it is performed? Why CT scans are often necessary for patient care. In this blog post you will get to know the essential information about the CT scan. Keep on reading to know more:

What is Computed Tomography or CT Scanning?

Computed tomography (also called computed tomography or computed tomography) uses narrow beams of X-rays and powerful computers to create images of the body’s bones and soft tissues.

Matrix Diagnostics provides a full range of advanced imaging, both cardiology and radiology, as well as pathology, comprehensive diagnostic services in Hyderabad including health packages.

Computerized tomography (CT) of the body uses sophisticated X-ray technology to help detect various diseases and conditions. CT scans are fast, painless, non-invasive and accurate. In an emergency, he can quickly identify internal injuries and bleeding, which can save lives.

If you are likely to become pregnant, please tell your doctor and discuss any recent medical conditions, health conditions, medications you are taking, and allergies. You will be asked not to eat or drink anything for a few hours. If you are allergic to contrast media, your doctor may prescribe some medications to reduce the risk of allergic reactions. Leave your jewelry at home and wear loose and comfortable clothes. You may be required to wear a suit.

Computed tomography, commonly called CT or CT, is an imaging test. Like traditional X-rays, it produces multiple images or images of the inside of the body.

CT scans generate images that can be reformatted in multiple planes. It can even create 3D images. A doctor can view these images on a computer monitor, print them on film or using a 3D printer, or transfer them to a CD or DVD. CT scans of internal organs, bones, soft tissue, and blood vessels provide more detail than traditional X-rays.

This is especially true for soft tissues and blood vessels. By using specialized equipment and skills to create and interpret computer tomography scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, appendicitis, trauma, and musculoskeletal diseases.

What are the common uses of the scan?

This method is considered the best because the image allows doctors to confirm the presence of the tumor, measure its size, pinpoint its exact location, and determine its involvement in other nearby tissues. CT is often used to evaluate pulmonary embolism (blood clots in pulmonary blood vessels) and aortic aneurysms.

In pediatric patients, CT scan is often used to evaluate:

  • Lymphoma,
  • Kidney tumours
  • Neuroblastoma
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Congenital malformations of the blood vessels, heart and kidneys
  • Complications of pneumonia
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Severe injuries
  • Complications of appendicitis

 How can you Prepare?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for the exam. You may need to change into a bathrobe for the procedure.

Metallic objects including jewelry, glasses, dentures, and hairpins can affect CT images. Leave them at home or take them off before the exam. Some CT scans require removal of hearing aids and removable dental work. Women will need to remove bras with metal underwire.

If possible, you will need to remove the piercing. Your doctor may advise you not to eat or drink anything for a few hours before the test if he is using a contrast agent. Tell your doctor about any medications you are taking and if you have any allergies. If you have a known contrast agent allergy, your doctor may prescribe medications (usually steroids) to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction.

To avoid unnecessary delays, please consult your doctor before the examination date. Also, tell your doctor about any recent illnesses or other medical conditions and if you have a history of heart disease, asthma, diabetes, kidney disease, or thyroid problems.

Any of these conditions can increase the risk of negative consequences. Women should always tell their doctor and CT scan if there is a chance they are pregnant.

How Does it Work?

In many ways, computed tomography works in the same way as other x-rays. Different parts of the body absorb X-rays in different amounts. This distinction allows the doctor to distinguish body parts from each other on an x-ray or computer image. In a conventional X-ray examination, a small amount of radiation is directed through the part of the body being examined. A special electronic registration plate captures the image.

Bones appear white on x-rays. Soft tissues like the heart or liver have shades of gray. In a CT scan, several x-rays and electronic x-ray detectors are revolving around you. They measure the amount of radiation absorbed by the body. Sometimes the table will move during scanning.

A special computer program processes this large amount of data to create 2D cross-sectional images of your body. The system displays images on a computer monitor. CT is sometimes compared to examining a loaf of bread by cutting the loaf into thin slices. When computer software reassembles portions of an image, the result is a highly detailed, multidimensional view of the interior of the body.

Almost all CT scanners allow you to scan several sections in one revolution. These multilayer (multi-detector) CT scanners allow you to obtain thinner sections in less time. This leads to more details. Modern computed tomography makes it possible to obtain images of large areas of the body of young children in seconds or even faster.

This speed is beneficial to all patients. Speed is especially useful for children, the elderly, and critically ill patients—anyone who finds it difficult to stay still, even when the time required to acquire an image is short.

How is the CT Scan Performed?

The technician begins by placing you on the CT scan table, usually lying on your back. They may use straps and pillows to help you maintain the correct posture and stay still during the exam.

Many scanners are fast enough to scan babies without sedation. In special cases, children who cannot sit still may need sedation. Motion can blur images and degrade image quality in the same way that it affects photographs. The exam may use contrasting material, depending on the exam type. If so, it will be taken by mouth, given intravenously (IV), or, in rare cases, given through an enema.

Then, the table would move quickly through the scanner to know the exact starting position of the scanners. Then the machine examines where it may male several passes based on the CT scan type.

Who Interprets the Results & how can you get them?

A radiologist, a physician specially trained to observe and interpret radiological examinations, will analyze the images. The radiologist will send an official report to the doctor who ordered the examination. Re-examination may be required. If so, your doctor will explain why.

Sometimes, on re-examination, a potential problem is additionally assessed using multiple images or special imaging techniques. He can also see if the problem has changed over time. Follow-up checks are often the best way to know if a treatment is working or if a problem requires attention.

What are the advantages over the risks?

  • CT scans are painless, non-invasive, & accurate.
  • One of the main advantages of CT is its ability to simultaneously visualize bones, soft tissue, and blood vessels.
  • Unlike conventional X-rays, computed tomography provides highly detailed images of many types of tissues, as well as the lungs, bones and blood vessels.
  • CT examinations are quick and easy. In an emergency, they can detect internal injuries and bleeding quickly enough to save lives.

  • CT has proven to be an affordable imaging tool that can be used to solve a variety of clinical problems. The sensitivity of CT to patient movement is lower than that of MRI.
  • Unlike an MRI, any type of implanted medical device will not prevent you from having a CT scan.
  • CT scans provide real-time images, making them an excellent tool for needle biopsy and needle aspiration. This is especially true for procedures involving the lungs, abdomen, pelvis and bones.
  • CT diagnostics can eliminate the need for exploratory surgery and surgical biopsy.
  • After a CT scan, no radiation remains in the patient’s body. X-rays used for computed tomography should not cause immediate side effects.

The Takeaway

When your doctor recommends a CT scan, the expected benefits of this test outweigh the potential radiation risks. You are encouraged to discuss the risks and benefits of your CT scan with your doctor or radiologist and explore if alternative imaging techniques may be available to diagnose your condition.

What’s the difference between type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes

Type-1 Diabetes

In this type of diabetes, the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells (beta cells). Without insulin, our body can’t utilize sugar for energy.

Treatment for type 1 diabetes usually includes insulin injections, blood glucose tests, carbohydrate counts, healthy eating, and exercise.

Type-2 Diabetes

This type of diabetes occurs in about 95% of all people with diabetes. This type of diabetes occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin, insulin is not used properly, or a combination of the two.

Treatment for type 2 diabetes usually includes oral diabetes medications and / or insulin injections, blood glucose testing, carbohydrate counting, healthy eating and exercise.

 Pre-diabetes

Pre-diabetes is a condition that occurs before a person develops type 2 diabetes. Blood sugar levels are above normal, but not high enough to be considered diabetes. Treatment for pre-diabetes commonly includes healthy eating, portion control carbohydrate counting, and exercise.

What is Insulin?

Insulin is a hormone that is produced by specific cells in the pancreas called beta cells.

Why do we need insulin?

Insulin is produced by the pancreas to help sugar (glucose) enter our cells for energy. If sugar cannot enter the cells for energy, it will stay in the blood, causing blood sugar to rise.

 What is Insulin Resistance?

This happens when the body produces insulin, but cells usually do not respond to insulin. It can happen in people with pre-diabetes and type II diabetes. Insulin resistance can manifest as a dark, velvety patch on the skin at the back of the neck, groin, or underarms, known as Acanthosis negaris.

What is Glucose?

Glucose, also known as sugar, is our body’s favorite fuel source. When we eat, the food enters the stomach and begins to be broken down into glucose.

Why do we need glucose?

Glucose nourishes our body and energizes our cells. We can easily feel tired or fatigued when our cells do not have enough glucose to fuel our body.

What is normal blood sugar?

The normal blood sugar level of non-diabetic patients is 80-100 mg/dL (4.4-5.5 mmol/L). The Indian Diabetes Association recommends that the pre-meal blood glucose level of diabetic patients is 80-130 mg/dL (4.4-7.2 mmol/L) and the postprandial blood glucose level is less than 180 mg/dL (10 mmol/L).

Why is high blood sugar dangerous?

High blood sugar (glucose) levels can harm our body, leading to heart disease, kidney problems, circulatory problems, nerve disorders, and even blindness. Elevated blood sugar is called hyperglycemia.

Why is hypoglycemia dangerous?

Low blood sugar (glucose) levels can cause dizziness, temporary changes in vision, confusion, and loss of consciousness. Hypoglycemia is also called hypoglycemia.

 Does our body make sugar?

Most of the sugar in our body comes from what we eat, but our body also produces its own sugar from the liver.

What are the risk factors involved with type 2 diabetes?

Older age, male, family history, ethnicity, overweight/obesity, history of gestational diabetes, poor diet, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, lack of physical activity, smoking.

What are the symptoms of diabetes?

Many people have no symptoms before being diagnosed with diabetes, while others do. Fatigue, frequent urination, extreme thirst, extreme hunger, blurred vision, persistent infection, unconscious weight loss, unhealed wounds.

How is type 2 diabetes diagnosed?

Diabetes is often suspected when multiple symptoms are present. Other people with multiple risk factors may be screened for diabetes before symptoms appear.

When diagnosing diabetes, there are four test options, as shown in the table below. If there are no clear symptoms of diabetes, the test should be repeated on another day.

What is an oral glucose tolerance test?

This test measures how your body responds to a certain amount of sugar. This test provides a sugar drink and checks your blood sugar every 60 minutes for up to three hours. This test is usually done to diagnose diabetes.

Ignoring Diabetic Diagnostic Tests

Many diabetic patients take the same dose of medication despite their fluctuating blood sugar levels.   This can be very dangerous as it can lead to under or over-treatment of diabetes. Insufficient treatment can lead to serious health complications due to uncontrolled blood sugar levels.

Likewise, with over-treatment, a drop in blood sugar can cause hypoglycemia, which is a medical emergency that leads to unconsciousness.

In the long run, inappropriate treatment can lead to microvascular or macrovascular complications. Microvascular complications are caused by damage to small blood vessels in various parts of the body, leading to blindness, kidney damage, and even peripheral neuritis.

Due to damage to the large blood vessels surrounding the arteries, a heart attack is a dangerous opportunity. If the blood supply to the brain is impaired, you may have a cerebrovascular accident or peripheral vascular disease.

You must take three tests to track your blood sugar rise in your body. These are serum creatinine, urination regimen and urine microalbumin. Urine microalbumin is the most important of the three. This is because while elevated serum creatinine levels may indicate irreversible kidney damage, urinary microalbumin helps detect kidney damage that can be corrected with immediate care.

Diabetes Check

The allowed blood sugar level is 65 – 110 mg / dl. It is ideal to get your diabetes checked once in every  month with these  three tests:

  • Fasting with blood sugar test – usually done on an empty stomach
  • Post lunch blood sugar test- two hours after a regular meal.
  • HbA1C – No food restrictions. (Diabetes mellitus test)

In cases where fasting blood glucose testing is not possible, the HbA1C test is sufficient to check for diabetes in your body. A test called random blood glucose is now used as an alternative to fasting and afternoon blood glucose testing.

Ultimately, small lifestyle changes can create a great impact in the long run. While there is no particular age to begin monitoring your lifestyle as well as health status. Starting as early as possible is always beneficial.

Add regular health and blood sugar checks and you could effectively keep diabetes away.
