It’s a water-borne disease, it is commonly caused due to poor sanitation. Poor sanitation means the consumption of food and water that is boiled or stored in bad sanitation. S.typhi is a bacterium that causes typhoid fever.

The fever is accompanied by severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, and headaches. The fever rises over a certain period of time, step by step, and then falls off the next morning. Always carry hand sanitizers, avoid street food and drink plenty of fluid to prevent typhoid.

The basic test for typhoid is blood culture. Rapid typhoid agglutination Typhi IGM and Widal agglutination is the second common test to detect typhoid.

  • Dengue

It is a viral infection caused by the bite of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito. Sudden high fever, severe headaches, severe muscle pain, rash, appetite loss, and fatigue are some of the most common symptoms of dengue fever. The dreaded dengue fever has proven to be life-threatening in many cases.

The sudden spread of the disease has in some cases been attributed to irregular rainfall and high humidity. The best way to prevent dengue is to use mosquito repellents and growing insect repellent plants such as citronella.

Various tests can be carried out on people suspected of having the disease. A decline in platelets is the first indication of dengue fever.  Thus regular monitoring is essential.

Common tests that can be conducted are Complete Blood Count, CBC, NS1 dengue antigen, and Dengue IgM. All the dengue blood & antigen tests in Hyderabad are available at Matrix Diagnostics.

  • Chikungunya

It is mainly caused by mosquitoes that live in stagnant water in air conditioners, coolers, plants, dishes, and water pipes. The disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected Aedes albopictus mosquito.

Mosquitoes bite not only at night but also in the blazing sun. Fever is associated with several symptoms such as vomiting, rash, nausea, and joint pain. Cleaning surfaces and using insect repellent is easy to prevent the disease.

The Aedes virus isolation is the best & most definitive test though it takes 1 to 2 weeks for completion. The Chikungunya IgM test could also be done.

  • Hepatitis A

The isolated virus originates from an infection with the hepatitis A virus (HAV). This type of hepatitis A is transmitted by eating food or water contaminated with fecal matter. Symptoms of fever include mild fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.

It is also advisable to wash your hands thoroughly after going to the toilet if you come into contact with the blood, stools, or other bodily fluids of an infected person. Avoiding unclean food and water can help prevent hepatitis A.

A diagnosis can be made through blood tests that detect viral antigens such as hepatitis and IgM antibodies.
